Creamy peppermint chocolate bars with a crunchy candy cane topping, perfect for festive occasions or as a sweet treat for chocolate and peppermint lovers.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. soft butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • 1/2 c. crushed peppermint candy canes

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, softened butter or margarine, egg yolk, and vanilla until well combined.
  2. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate pieces.
  3. Spread the batter evenly in an ungreased 15 x 10-inch pan.
  4. Beat the egg white until frothy and brush it over the top of the bars.
  5. Sprinkle crushed peppermint candy canes evenly over the bars.
  6. Bake in a 350°F oven for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly, then cut into approximately 40 bars.
