Chocolate butterscotch cereal bars combine sweet, creamy peanut butter with crunchy rice cereal, topped with smooth chocolate and butterscotch for a delightful treat suited for all ages.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 6 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 6 ounces Nestle Toll House chocolate morsels
  • 6 ounces Nestle Toll House butterscotch morsels

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar and corn syrup in a large saucepan. Bring just to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
  2. Stir in peanut butter until well blended.
  3. Add cereal and stir until evenly coated.
  4. Press the mixture into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  5. In a microwave-safe medium bowl, microwave chocolate morsels and butterscotch morsels on high for 1 minute.
  6. Stir until smooth. Microwave at additional 10 to 20 second intervals, stirring until fully melted and smooth.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate and butterscotch mixture over the cereal layer.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for 20 minutes or until firm.
  9. Cut into bars and serve.
