  3. In a mixing bowl, combine chopped pepperoni, beaten eggs, Romano cheese, and shredded Mozzarella cheese.

  6. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Tips & Substitutions

For a crispy top, make sure to roll out the crescent rolls evenly, and consider adding a sprinkle of Italian seasoning for extra flavor. If you can't find Romano cheese, Parmesan is a great substitute. You can also use turkey or chicken pepperoni for a lighter version. For a twist, try adding some sautéed bell peppers or onions to the filling.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these pepperoni roll squares warm, cut into squares, as a delicious appetizer or snack. They pair wonderfully with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. A fresh salad or some roasted vegetables make for great accompaniments. For a fun twist, consider serving them alongside some creamy Sausage Gravy(To Be Served Over Biscuits; Also Known As Sawmill Gravy).

Storage & Reheating

To store leftovers, allow the pepperoni roll squares to cool completely, then cover tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes until warmed through, or microwave for a quick option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of cheese?

Absolutely! While mozzarella is traditional, you can experiment with other cheeses like cheddar, provolone, or a blend of your favorites. Just ensure that the cheese melts well to maintain the desired texture in the final dish.

How can I make this recipe ahead of time?

You can prepare the filling and assemble the squares in the pan a day ahead. Cover and refrigerate overnight. When you're ready to bake, simply pop them in the oven. This saves time and makes for an easy party dish.

Is it possible to freeze these squares?

Yes, you can freeze the assembled unbaked squares. Wrap the pan tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil. When ready to bake, thaw in the refrigerator overnight and bake as directed. They can also be frozen after baking, though fresh is always best.
