Ingredients

  • 1 can sliced peaches (1 pint)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 6 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Put peaches and lemon juice in the bottom of the baking dish.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, egg, shortening, and salt until crumbly.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of the topping over the peaches.
  4. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar if desired.
  5. Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm, plain or with whipped cream or milk.
