- Brown the pheasants in a skillet with a small amount of butter.
- Place the browned pheasant pieces in a 2-quart ovenproof casserole dish.
- In a saucepan, combine the mushroom soup, canned mushrooms with liquid, and slivered almonds.
- Stir until the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the mushroom mixture over the pheasants.
- Cover the dish and bake in a 300°F oven for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Serve hot, optionally substituting chicken for pheasant.
