Tips & Substitutions

For a smoother fudge, ensure you mix the cocoa and sugar thoroughly with the melted margarine before adding evaporated milk. If you don't have margarine, butter works well as a substitute. For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of salt or vanilla extract to enhance the chocolate taste.

Serving Suggestions

Cut the fudge into small squares for a delightful treat. It pairs beautifully with coffee or a glass of cold milk. For a fun twist, consider serving it alongside Peach Melba for dessert or as a sweet addition to a tailgate gathering.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If you need to keep it longer, refrigerate it, but allow it to come to room temperature before serving for the best texture. Avoid freezing, as it can change the consistency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use sweetened condensed milk instead of evaporated milk?

While sweetened condensed milk is thicker and sweeter, you can use it in a pinch. Just reduce the sugar in the recipe by about half to balance the sweetness.

What if my fudge doesn't set properly?

If your fudge remains soft, it may not have reached the proper temperature. You can reheat it gently and cook it to the firm ball stage again. Alternatively, try chilling it in the fridge to firm up.

How can I add flavor variations to this fudge?

You can mix in nuts, dried fruit, or even a swirl of peanut butter or caramel for added flavor. Experiment with extracts, like almond or peppermint, to create your own unique twist!
