  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 Tbsp. steak sauce
  • 1/4 c. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. mustard
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger

Instructions

  1. Salt and pepper the pork loin.
  2. Cover the pork with Kitchen Bouquet (a basting mixture).
  3. Cook the pork indirectly with the lid closed.
  4. Combine soy sauce, sugar, ground cloves, steak sauce, lemon juice, mustard, and ground ginger to make the sauce.
  5. Heat the sauce to boiling.
  6. Brush the sauce on the pork within 1 to 2 hours before it is ready.

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, marinate the pork loin in the sauce overnight. If you're out of soy sauce, try tamari for a gluten-free option, or coconut aminos for a soy-free alternative. Adjust the sugar based on your sweetness preference, or substitute with honey or maple syrup. If you prefer a spicier kick, consider adding red pepper flakes or a touch of sriracha to the sauce.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the pork loin sliced with a drizzle of the sauce over the top. It pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables or a fresh salad. For a heartier meal, consider serving alongside garlic mashed potatoes or the Baked Beans(Hearty Enough For A Meal). A side of steamed broccoli or green beans complements the flavors beautifully.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover pork loin in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, place the pork in a covered dish in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) until warmed through, about 15-20 minutes. You can also slice and reheat the pork in a skillet over medium heat with a splash of broth to keep it moist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different cut of pork for this recipe?

Yes, you can use pork tenderloin or pork chops instead of pork loin. Just adjust the cooking time accordingly, as these cuts will cook faster. Make sure to monitor the internal temperature to ensure they reach 145°F (63°C) for safe consumption.

What should I serve with the pork loin?

This pork loin pairs nicely with a variety of sides. Consider serving it with roasted vegetables, a fresh green salad, or creamy garlic mashed potatoes. For a unique twist, try it alongside the Hearty Hot Pecan Spread as an appetizer before the main course.

How can I make the sauce thicker?

To thicken the sauce, you can simmer it longer to reduce the liquid, or mix in a slurry made from cornstarch and water. Start with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon of water, adding it to the sauce while it simmers until it reaches your desired thickness.
