Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider marinating the chicken in the ginger and garlic mixture for a few hours before cooking. If you don’t have red wine, white wine or chicken broth can be used as substitutes. You can also add vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for extra nutrition. For a heartier meal, serve with Kluski (Polish Dumplings) on the side.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Potato-Chicken hot, garnished with fresh herbs like cilantro or green onions for added freshness. This dish pairs excellently with steamed rice or a simple salad. For a complete meal, consider serving it alongside Pickled Chinese Beets for a delightful contrast.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the chicken and potatoes in a pan over medium heat with a splash of water to keep them moist, or microwave in short intervals, stirring occasionally to ensure even heating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use boneless chicken instead of drumsticks?

Yes, boneless chicken can be used in this recipe. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time, as boneless pieces will cook faster than drumsticks. Aim for about 15-20 minutes of cooking time for tender and juicy results.

What should I do if my potatoes aren't tender after 20 minutes?

If your potatoes aren't tender, cover the pot and let them simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes, checking occasionally. Cooking times can vary based on the size of the potato chunks, so cutting them smaller can help ensure they cook through more quickly.

Can I make this dish in advance?
