Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Grease a skillet with 3 tablespoons butter.
  3. Use a tight-fitting cover for the skillet.
  4. Toss sliced potatoes with salt and pepper.
  5. Layer one-third of the potato slices in a circle around the bottom and sides of the skillet.
  6. Dot the layered potatoes with butter.
  7. Repeat the layering and dotting two more times.
  8. Over high heat, cook the potatoes for 3 minutes.
  9. Then bake, covered, for 30 minutes.
  10. Place foil under the skillet to catch overflow.
  11. Remove the cover and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  12. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  13. Invert the skillet onto a serving dish to serve.
