Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups pecan halves
  • 2 egg whites
  • dash of salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter.
  2. Mix sugar and salt, then beat the egg whites until frothy.
  3. Fold the sugar mixture into the beaten egg whites.
  4. Add pecan halves to the mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. Spread the coated pecans in a pan and bake at 325°F (163°C) for 30 to 35 minutes or until brown.
  6. Liquid will absorb during baking.
  7. Stir the pecans every 10 minutes to prevent sticking and ensure even coating.
  8. Remove from oven and place on wax paper to cool.
