Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • vegetable cooking spray
  • 1 (12 oz.) can evaporated skim milk
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup frozen egg substitute, thawed

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar into a small heavy skillet.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until the sugar melts and turns light brown.
  3. Pour the caramel syrup into an 8-inch round cake pan that has been coated with cooking spray, tilting the pan to coat the bottom evenly.
  4. Set the pan aside; the caramel syrup will harden as it cools.
