- Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together.
- Cut in shortening and add milk to make a soft dough.
- Toss the dough onto a floured board and knead gently.
- Roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness and brush with melted butter or margarine.
- Cover the dough with chopped apples and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough as for a jelly roll and shape into a large crescent on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake in a 425°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
- While still warm, frost with confectioners' sugar frosting and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
