Ingredients

  • 1 c. Margarine
  • 1 c. Corn syrup
  • 15 oz. can Condensed milk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp. Salt
  • 2 1/4 c. Brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt the margarine in a saucepan, then stir in the salt and brown sugar until well combined.
  2. Add the corn syrup and mix thoroughly.
  3. Stir in the condensed milk and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 245°F on a sugar thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat immediately, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the hot caramel into a well buttered 9-inch square pan and let it cool completely before cutting into pieces.
