- Add shortening, 2/3 of the milk, and vanilla to the dry ingredients.

- Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Add the remaining 1/3 of the milk and eggs.
- Beat at low speed until well mixed, then beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 25 minutes.
