Ingredients

  • 3 slices raisin bread
  • butter or margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (13 or 14 oz.) can evaporated milk

Instructions

  1. Toast the raisin bread.
  2. Spread each slice lightly with butter or margarine and cut into 1/2-inch cubes.
  3. Divide the bread cubes evenly into 6 custard cups.
  4. In a bowl, combine the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract.
  5. Stir in the evaporated milk and boiling water.
  6. Pour the custard mixture over the bread in each cup.
  7. Place the custard cups in a pan of hot water and bake until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove the cups and let cool. Refrigerate before serving.
