- Toast the raisin bread.
- Spread each slice lightly with butter or margarine and cut into 1/2-inch cubes.
- Divide the bread cubes evenly into 6 custard cups.
- In a bowl, combine the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Stir in the evaporated milk and boiling water.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread in each cup.
- Place the custard cups in a pan of hot water and bake until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cups and let cool. Refrigerate before serving.
