Ingredients

  • 10 oz sharp cheese
  • 2 cups diced potatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup celery
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups cream-style corn
  • 2 cooked hot dogs

Instructions

  1. Boil diced potatoes, chopped carrots, chopped onions, and celery separately, then simmer for 10 minutes until vegetables are cooked but not mushy.
  2. Shred the sharp cheese.
  3. Make a cream sauce by melting butter, then stirring in flour and milk; cook until smooth and slightly thickened.
  4. Stir in shredded cheese until melted into the sauce.
  5. Add cream-style corn and the cooked vegetables, including their broth, into the sauce.
  6. Heat the mixture gently without bringing it to a boil.
  7. Add thinly sliced cooked hot dogs to the chowder.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
