- Brown ground beef with chopped onion, salt, pepper, and taco seasoning.
- Crush two-thirds of the tortilla chips and layer them on the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Add the cooked beef mixture on top of the chips and sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
- Spread sour cream evenly over the cheese layer.
- Add the remaining cheese on top of the sour cream.
- Layer the remaining tortilla chips over the cheese.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes until hot and bubbly.
- Garnish with lettuce and tomatoes if desired, and serve with extra sour cream and taco sauce.
