Real Beef Tacos

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. beef chuck, shoulder or pot roast
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 to 1/3 c. oil
  • 1 c. water or low-fat beef broth
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 (16 oz.) can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 1 can chopped green chiles
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. comino

Instructions

  1. Brown meat on both sides; add all other ingredients.
  2. Cook at 350° for 3 to 4 hours.
  3. Add enough water to fill pan 3/4 full; don't let dry out.
  4. Meat should fall apart.
  5. Serve over Spanish rice or can make burritos.
