Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, creamed
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1/4 c. red food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. cake flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa

Instructions

  1. Mix together shortening, sugar and eggs.
  2. Add vanilla.
  3. Add cake flour (sifted) and buttermilk.
  4. Mix vinegar and soda, then add to batter.
