- Combine 3 cups of flour, dry yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Heat the milk and 2 cups of water in a saucepan until very warm.
- Gradually add the warm milk mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing well.
- Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally.
- Add 1 cup of flour and beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the shredded Cheddar cheese.
- Gradually add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place in a greased baking pan.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven, brush with melted butter, and serve warm.
