Refrigerator hot rolls are soft, fluffy, and lightly sweetened bread rolls with a golden crust, perfect for breakfast or dinner alongside savory dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm water and let it rise in a container.
  2. In a large bowl, combine hot water, 1/3 cup sugar, oil, and salt.
  3. Cool the mixture slightly and add the yeast mixture, egg, and flour.
  4. Blend well and oil the top of the dough.
  5. Cover with a dry cloth and let the dough double in bulk.
  6. Mash down the dough and knead on a flour-covered board.
  7. Shape the dough into rolls and let them rise.
  8. Bake in a 400°F oven until golden brown.
  9. Dough can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week.
