A hearty, flavorful roast cooked in a bag with vegetables, ideal for a simple, tender meal that suits family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 roast (any kind, deer, pork or beef)
  • 1 package roasting bag seasoning
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion or green onion
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 2 large carrots

Instructions

  1. Before bedtime, set oven at 175° to 200° F.
  2. Place meat, water, and chopped onions into the seasoning bag.
  3. Next morning, turn the oven off.
  4. Boil potatoes and carrots until almost done.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Put the meat and all its juices into an electric skillet.
  7. Add the boiled potatoes and carrots; simmer until they are cooked.
  8. Thicken the gravy with cornstarch or flour mixed with water.
  9. Serve with rice or mashed potatoes. Meat can be frozen for later use.
