Delicious homemade rolled dumplings with fluffy, tender texture, perfect for hearty chicken soups or stews. Ideal for comforting family dinners and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 roasting chicken
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cook the roasting chicken, baked or boiled.
  2. If baked, add enough water to the chicken drippings to make 4 quarts of liquid.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Stir in only enough of the 2/3 cup milk to make a soft dough.
  5. Roll out on floured paper or board to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Cut into 2-inch squares.
  7. Drop each square individually into boiling chicken liquid.
  8. Do not cover the pot.
  9. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes until dumplings are puffed and cooked through.
