Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 egg, separated
  • red jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add sifted flour and the egg yolk; mix until well combined.
  4. Shape the dough into olive-sized balls.
  5. Dip your thumb in the beaten egg white and press into the center of each ball to create a well.
  6. Fill the well with red jam.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly browned around the edges.
