Rumaki offers a smoky, sweet, and savory combination of chicken livers, water chestnuts, and bacon, perfect as an elegant appetizer for gatherings or parties.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts
  • 1 lb. chicken livers, halved
  • 12 to 14 bacon slices, cut in thirds
  • 4 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Dip liver halves in brown sugar.
  2. Slice water chestnuts in halves.
  3. Wrap each piece of liver and water chestnut with a bacon slice.
  4. Secure both ends with a toothpick.
  5. Refrigerate up to 1 day if not cooking immediately.
  6. When ready, place on a broiler pan.
  7. Broil each side until bacon is crisp, about 15 minutes.
