- Place peeled and cored pears in a microwave-safe dish at least 1-inch deep.
- Put 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon into each pear.
- Pour 1/2 cup rum over the pears.
- Cook on High for 3 minutes.
- Spoon sauce over the pears.
- Add more rum if needed.
- Cook on High for an additional 3 minutes or until the pears are almost tender.
- Spoon sauce over the pears again.
- Serve with whipped cream.
