Creamy sour cream stroganoff features tender beef, mushrooms, and onions in a savory sauce, served over noodles or rice, perfect for comforting family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound stew meat
  • 1/4 cup mushrooms
  • 1 cup onions
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons catsup
  • dash garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • noodles or rice

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cut meat into bite-sized pieces and coat with the flour mixture.
  3. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan and brown the meat slowly on all sides.
  4. Add onions, garlic powder, water, Worcestershire sauce, catsup, and mushroom liquid to the meat.
  5. Cover and simmer until the meat is tender, about 2 hours.
  6. Stir in mushrooms and sour cream.
  7. Cook only until heated through.
  8. Serve over noodles or buttered rice.
