Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. corn oil margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. pure almond extract
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 c. chopped almonds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Beat butter, margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in egg, salt and flavoring.
  3. Blend in flour.
  4. Form into balls the size of a walnut.
  5. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Press flat with fork dipped in cold water. Bake in a preheated 375° oven for 10 to 12 minutes until light golden brown around edges.
  7. Cool on rack. Store in airtight container in freezer.
