- Scald milk.
- Add sugar, salt and butter.
- Cool.
- Measure water and add yeast.
- Stir into milk mixture.
- Add egg and half of flour.
- Beat until smooth.
- Add remaining flour.
- Cover tightly and refrigerate for 3 hours. May be left in fridge for 3 days. Makes 4 coffee cakes. Roll out like pie crust, less than 1/2-inch thick. Put in a greased pan and add filling.
