Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients as you would for pie crust.
  2. Divide dough in half; roll out dough and place in a cookie sheet.
  3. Put pie filling on top of the dough, then cover with the remaining pie crust.
  4. Poke the top crust with a fork to vent.
  5. Bake at 350° F for 30 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
