Sesame Cumin Bow Ties

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp sesame seed
  • 1 sheet frozen Puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg white

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine cumin and salt.
  3. Sprinkle half of the salt mixture and 1 tablespoon of sesame seed over a lightly floured work surface.
  4. Place the thawed puff pastry sheet on top.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining salt mixture and sesame seed over the pastry.
  6. Roll the pastry into a rectangle approximately 11 x 14 inches.
  7. While rolling, press sesame seeds into the surface of the pastry.
  8. Cut the pastry crosswise into strips about 1 inch wide, then cut each strip into 4 shorter pieces.
  9. Twist each strip and pinch the center to form a bow tie shape.
  10. Place the bow ties about 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
  11. Beat the egg white with 1 tablespoon of water and brush over the top of each bow tie.
  12. Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
