Sherry Cheese Sauce

A rich, creamy sherry cheese sauce with a hint of spice and nutmeg, perfect for drizzling over vegetables or pasta to add depth and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. skim milk
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 4 Tbsp. sherry
  • 3 oz. Gruyere cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, over high heat, combine milk, salt, mustard, pepper, and nutmeg.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and sherry; stir until well blended.
  4. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan mixture.
  5. Reduce heat to low and cook until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the grated cheese.
  7. Serve over vegetables.
