Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. oil
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. molasses (Brer Rabbit, orange label)
  • 1 Tbsp. soda

Instructions

  1. Mix thoroughly the flour, oil and sugar. Reserve 1 cup of the crumbs for the topping. Add to the remaining crumbs the boiling water, molasses and soda.
  2. Mix these ingredients well, then pour the batter into a greased 10 x 13-inch cake pan.
  3. Sprinkle the reserved crumbs over the batter, then bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
