Sichuan Green Beans

Ingredients

  • 200 grams green beans
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 small shallots, finely chopped
  • 3/4 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli flakes
  • 2 teaspoons oil (any flavourless kind)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Trim and discard the ends of the green beans. Bring a pot of water to the boil, blanch them for 3-5 minutes and drain.
  2. Add oil in a pan and saute shallots and garlic until lightly browned, about 1 minute. Add soy sauce, red chilli flakes, and salt. Toss in the blanched beans, pour the sesame oil, and toss until everything is well coated.
  3. Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top and serve hot.
