"Smashed Up" Spaghetti

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green small pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 pt. can tomatoes
  • 1/4 lb. uncooked spaghetti

Instructions

  1. Heat salad oil in a saucepan or skillet.
  2. Add chopped onion and green pepper; cook until soft.
  3. Crumble in the ground beef.
  4. Cook and stir until the meat loses its red color.
  5. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Pour in canned tomatoes and tomato sauce; bring to a boil.
  7. Break spaghetti into pieces and sprinkle a little at a time into the sauce, stirring to keep it separated.
  8. Cover tightly and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  9. Serve hot with cheese.
