Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 3/4 cups unbleached flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon chives

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 450°F.
  2. Cut shortening into flour, baking powder, and salt with a pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  3. Stir in sour cream and chives.
  4. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly.
  5. Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Cut with a floured 2-inch biscuit cutter.
  7. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet 1 inch apart.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
