Ingredients

  • 5 cups fresh or frozen fruit (blackberries, cherries, blueberries, or peaches)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • pastry for 9-inch pie
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oleomargarine
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Place the fruit in a 9-inch square dish.
  2. Combine 1/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, and salt; mix well and sprinkle over the fruit.
  3. Dot with oleomargarine.
  4. Place the pastry on top of the fruit; trim the edge and seal.
  5. Make several slits in the pastry to allow steam to escape.
  6. Brush the pastry with milk and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.
  7. Bake at 425°F for 30 minutes until golden brown.
