A fragrant Southern spiced tea bursting with citrus, cloves, and a sweet syrup—perfect for a summer party or a cozy chill, served hot or iced.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups boiling water
  • 5 tablespoons tea leaves
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves

Instructions

  1. Boil 8 cups of water and steep 5 tablespoons of tea leaves for 5 minutes.
  2. While the tea steeps, combine 2 cups of sugar with 8 cups of water to make a syrup.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of whole cloves to the syrup and simmer until fragrant.
  4. Strain the tea and remove the leaves.
  5. Stir in the syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and orange juice.
  6. Serve the tea hot or chill and serve as iced tea.
  7. Enjoy this aromatic beverage in 18 cups.
