- Drain raisins and save 1 cup of the liquid.
- Add soda and shortening to the raisin liquid.

- Spread the dough thinly in 2 greased oblong pans.
- Bake at 350°F for approximately 12 minutes.
- While hot, ice with thin powdered sugar icing.
