Spiced Holiday Nuts

Spiced holiday nuts combine warm, aromatic spices with crunchy almonds or pecans, perfect for festive snacking or gifting during the holiday season. They suit all nut lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. powdered ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 c. shelled almonds or pecans
  • extra garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. In a bowl, mix all spices together and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over low heat.
  4. Add spices to the skillet and stir well.
  5. Simmer for 3-4 minutes to mellow flavors.
  6. Place nuts in a bowl.
  7. Scrape the spice mixture onto the nuts and toss well.
  8. Spread the coated nuts in one layer on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes, shaking the pan once or twice during baking.
  10. Remove from oven.
  11. Using a rubber spatula, toss the nuts with any spices and oil on the bottom of the pan.
  12. If desired, sprinkle with a bit more garlic salt.
  13. Let rest for 2 hours in a cool place before serving or storing.
