A creamy, savory squash au gratin layered with tender onions and a crispy bread crumb topping, perfect for comforting family dinners or holiday side dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 cups cooked, cut yellow squash

Instructions

  1. Saute sliced onions in 3 tablespoons butter until tender.
  2. Arrange half of cooked, cut yellow squash in a buttered baking dish.
  3. Cover with half of the sautéed onions.
  4. Repeat the layers with remaining squash and onions.
  5. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and dot with butter.
  6. Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
