Ingredients

  • 1 lb stewing meat
  • 2 to 3 medium potatoes
  • flour
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the stewing meat and potatoes into 1-inch cubes and remove all connective tissue and fat.
  2. Roll the meat in flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
  3. Cover the meat with boiling water and cook in an oven at 300°F for 2 to 3 hours until tender.
  4. Add the beef bouillon cube and stir until dissolved.
  5. Allow the meat mixture to cool.
  6. Add the prepared potatoes to the cooled meat mixture.
  7. Put a 1-inch rim of pastry on top of the casserole dish.
  8. Add the meat and potato mixture into the dish.
  9. Make a hole for the pie bird in the pastry top and place it over the casserole.
  10. Moisten the edges of the pastry to help them stick together and create your preferred decorative pie crust edges.
  11. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour until golden and cooked through.
