- Boil pears until soft.
- Put the boiled pears through a food mill.
- Add sugar and light Karo syrup to the pear puree.
- Can put the mixture in a roaster in the oven at low heat or on top of the stove until the right consistency.
- When cooking on top of the stove, extra care must be taken to avoid scorching.
- Add nutmeg or cinnamon to taste.
- Ladle the pear butter into jars and seal.
