Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 3/4 lb. powdered sugar
  • 4 to 5 cups sifted flour
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Roll out the dough into a thin sheet.
  2. Cut the dough into 1 x 5-inch strips using a jaggling iron.
  3. Tie each strip once into a loose knot, leaving a small hole in the middle.
  4. Fry the knots in hot fat until they rise to the surface and are golden brown.
  5. Remove from oil and sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
  6. Let them sit for a day to improve flavor and texture.
