Ingredients

  • 12 apples
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • few drops red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Peel and core the apples.
  2. Make a syrup by combining water, sugar, food coloring, and cinnamon in a saucepan.
  3. Add apples, four at a time, and cook gently, turning carefully until done.
  4. Let the apples cool.
  5. Stuff the cooled apples with a mixture of chopped celery, chopped nuts, and mayonnaise to moisten.
