Ingredients

  • 8 oz. herb-flavored stuffing mix
  • 1 cup canned stewed tomatoes
  • 1.5 to 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup stuffing mix with the canned stewed tomatoes, ground chuck, and beaten egg, mixing well with your hands.
  2. Prepare the remaining stuffing mix as directed on the package, following the instructions as if using all the bread.
  3. Divide the meat mixture in half.
  4. Drop chunks of half of the meat into an 8 x 8-inch pan.
  5. Top with the prepared stuffing and press down gently.
  6. Layer the rest of the meat mixture on top of the stuffing.
  7. Again, drop chunks of the remaining meat on top.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the amount of meat used.
