Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 egg yolks, well beaten
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt together. Combine beaten egg yolks, milk and melted butter; blend thoroughly.
  2. Add liquid mixture all at one time to dry ingredients; mix only until batter is smooth.
  3. Fold in beaten egg whites and bake on hot waffle iron.
  4. Makes 8 waffles.
