Sunflower Seed Bread

Ingredients

  • 12 c. whole wheat flour
  • 2 c. sunflower seeds
  • 1 c. honey
  • 4 c. milk, room temperature
  • 2 Tbsp. yeast
  • 6 Tbsp. margarine, melted
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Grease bottoms only of bread pans.
  2. Dissolve yeast with 2 tablespoons honey and small amount of warm water.
  3. Set until bubbly.
  4. Add to milk and rest of honey, 4 tablespoons margarine and salt.
  5. Add 10 cups flour, one cup at a time; stir in until soft dough forms.
  6. Stir in seeds.
  7. Spread elastic and has a sort of "sheen."
  8. Add flour as needed.
  9. Let rise until double (1 to 2 hours).
  10. Shape into loaves (4).
  11. Let rise until double.
  12. Brush with remaining margarine.
  13. Bake at 375° about 45 minutes.
