- Mix sifted flour, a dash of salt, and oleo like pie crust until crumbly.
- Divide the mixture into two parts and roll each into long strips on a cookie sheet.
- Pat the strips to 1/4-inch thickness.
- Bring 1/4 pound oleo and 1 cup water to a boil in a saucepan.
- Add 1 cup flour to the boiling mixture and remove from heat.
- While hot, add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
- Stir in almond flavoring.
- Spread the custard evenly over the pastry, leaving 1/4-inch border around the edges.
- Bake in a 425°F oven for 30 minutes until golden.
- Allow to cool before serving.
