Ingredients

  • 1 dozen ripe cukes
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves (heads removed)
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons mustard seed

Instructions

  1. Peel the cukes.
  2. Cut the cukes in two lengthwise.
  3. Scrape out the seeds with a spoon.
  4. Salt the cukes and let stand overnight.
  5. Combine vinegar, sugar, whole cloves, and mustard seed to make the pickling brine.
  6. Add the prepared cukes to the brine and process as desired.
